It’s The Luckiest Day in 1000 Years

Yep, it’s true. 08-08-08 is a lucky day.
Especially in many parts of Asia where
the number 8 is kinda like the number 7
for those of us in the West.
It is no coincidence that the Beijeng
Olympics begin today.
So what is it about luck? Is there such
a thing?
I would say no, not really. You make
your own luck in my opinion–both
bad and good.
On the other hand I would say there is
such a thing as “pure luck” and you
really only see that in one instance.
Pure luck is when you gamble and
it actually works out. When you hit the lottery
or roll the dice and it comes up 7’s or
if the slot machine has 3 cherries.
If that actually happens that is pure
luck. Because you had no influence
over the outcome.
Otherwise, luck is up to you. If you think
you will have a bad month, then guess
what? Events will line up to prove you
right.
If you THINK you’re lucky then you probably
will be. Things will just go your way.
The best definition of luck I’ve ever heard
is “preparation meeting opportunity”
Look at it this way. If someone studied
piano for 15 years, and was playing
at a little club and was overheard by a big
record executive and got a contract
for a ton of munny, there would be
a lot of people who said he got a
“lucky break.”
Mmmmm…not really. That person
was prepared when an opportunity met
him. But people usually look at that
as luck, because they didn’t see all
the hard work that went into the
preparation when the awesome
opportunity met him.
On the other hand, if a musically
untalented person who never studied music
was just walking down the street one
day, saw that record exec and got a
huge record contract, out of the blue
THAT would be luck. And highly
unlikely.
A lot of people say I’m lucky because
I have figured out a way to make a full
time living doing part time work.
But am I unlucky because I have CF
and am not able to work full time?
Both are correct depending how you
want to look at it. I choose to believe
I am really really lucky. But again,
I am making my own luck.
I believe I am so I am. I have worked
hard figuring out a way to make eBay
work.
And because I prepared myself to figure
out how to make munny without working
hard in a job I hate I was open to seeing
new ways of doing things
So when I discovered eBay all those years
ago I was ready to seize that opportunity.
I was lucky to have found it, some people
have said
I would contend that it was lucky, but by my
own definition.–I was prepared by my
circumstances to see a new way of making
munny and when the opportunity of eBay
presented itself I was ready for it.
So in that respect I was “lucky” to find it.
And pass what I have found on to others.
So I hope you are having a lucky
today on 08-08-08 and be sure to

so you can discover how to add some
extra munny in your life.
