Ok. Today I am going to go off
topic a bit to make a point to you.

I got a great email today from someone
after my own heart. Or maybe I should
say, after my own lung.

Anne emailed me today to say this:

“Hi Tim–

I am on your list and hope someday to find
the time to develop an eBay business. My
hurdle has been that I just don’t have the slightest
idea about what to sell. My interests in life are not
really materialistic. But I found your recent message
quite interesting on several levels…

All the best, Anne.”

Anne talked some more about Cystic Fibrosis
related stuff…turns out she has worked on
clinical trials of a couple of the drugs that
have made my life better.

I would love nothing more than to return the
favor and make her life better.

So on to me dissecting this email and making
some points about munny,

First off, let me just say there is no such
day as someday, Anne. That day never comes.
Best just to start TODAY and correct your
mistakes as you go. I’m sure you’ve heard
the saying “ready, fire, aim.”

It just means pull the trigger on
whatever it is you want to do and you will
correct the course as you move forward.

Getting started on eBay part time is the only
way to go. I would never suggest just quitting
your job and jumping into it full time.
That would be insane

The good news is you can skip over all the
mistakes I have made in the last 10 years.

Now to get a bit rough. Follow me on
this because when I talk about it with
some people they zone out or get mad at
me.

When you say “My interests in life are not
really materialistic” I hear you saying that
munny is not important. Or maybe you are
saying that munny is evil or that it is
difficult to make so therefore you don’t
want to focus on it.

None of those things are true. Munny is
indeed important. If the important things
you find in life don’t involve munny I would
love to know what they are.

I often hear stuff like this from people
in the medical field (my mom included)
who are very big hearted and altruistic.

They think that helping people and
making munny are mutually exclusive.
Not true. The best thing you can do with
munny is help other people. How much
more good could you do if you could
afford to give away $100,000 a year
to the charities or causes you believe in?
There aren’t enough hours in the year to
volunteer or work to make that kind of impact.

Which brings me to my second point..the whole
ridiculous “munny is evil” argument. See,
munny is neutral. A 20 doll.ar bill can
be used to buy crack cocaine or it can
be used to buy a meal or clothes for someone
in need.

The 20 dolla.r bill is neither good nor bad. it
is the user who makes the decision.

And last the whole munny is difficult to
make way of thinking. In yesterday’s email
I pointed out that the less I work the more
I make. And it is true for a lot of people
I have met in the last three years. I
have been associating more with people
I want to emulate.

Boy people hate to hear that work and munny
aren’t really related but it’s true. Trading hours
for dolla/rs is the least efficient way to make munny.

But there is a trick to it.
